Energy and Natural Resources Minister Jonathan Wilkinson was in Paris last week to mark the 50th anniversary of the International Energy Agency (IEA)but he spent most of his time thinking about how Canada’s presence would look different if Pierre Poilievre and the Conservatives were in charge.
“I reflected a lot during the meetings about what this would look like for Canada, if you had a government that was led by Mr. Poilievre,” said Wilkinson. “He would be so far out of the mainstream of the conversations that it would be very challenging for Canada to be part of that conversation.”

That being said, some environmentalists ripped Wilkinson and co. for continuing to fall short on climate change, emphasizing how Canada is actually lagging behind the IEA on embracing the clean energy transition.
