Doug Ford made it his job to know as little as possible about the Greenbelt deals. But his fingerprints are all over them.

Given Ford’s ownership of the Greenbelt scandal, voters will ultimately reclaim stewardship of the protected lands he gave away under false pretences, Martin Regg Cohn writes. Political Columnist/Toronto StarSaturday, September 2, 2023

Court Painter reminding folks of the Ford legacy

Excerpt from article:

Protecting the premier is always paramount, which is achieved by keeping him far away from any impropriety. The problem is when the old mantra of “plausible deniability” becomes so implausible as to be undeniable.

Ford’s fingerprints have been on the steering wheel ever since he promised to stop the gravy train, only to drive the Greenbelt bulldozer from start to finish.

In fact, Ford was caught on video telling supporters privately in 2018 that he would carve up the Greenbelt, only to swear off the plan. As premier, he issued the mandate letter last year, as revealed in last week’s report from the integrity commissioner, ordering Clark to do precisely the opposite and proclaim it in public.
