Veteran hockey broadcaster Don Cherry is facing backlash after appearing to deny the existence of climate change\u00a0and calling people who believe in the widely accepted phenomenon \u201ccuckaloos.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Cherry, 83, made the remarks to co-commentator Ron MacLean on Saturday night during the first intermission of the game between the Toronto Maple Leafs\u00a0<\/a>and Boston Bruins, a day after Ontario\u2019s newest forecasting\u00a0groundhog Wiarton Willie\u00a0signalled six more weeks of winter.<\/p>\n

During his \u201cCoach\u2019s Corner\u201d segment, Cherry, asked MacLean if he and his \u201cleft-wing pinko friends\u201d could explain their fears over rising temperatures in light of the prevailing cold weather.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m just asking you, the cuckaloos are always saying there are warming trends \u2014 we\u2019re freezing to death.\u201d<\/p>\n
