(News Nation<\/a>) \u2014 Earth is moving closer to destruction, a science-oriented advocacy group said Tuesday January 17\/26 as it advanced its \u201cDoomsday Clock<\/a>\u201d to 85 seconds till midnight, the closest it has ever been.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists<\/strong> made the annual announcement Tuesday \u2014 which rates how close humanity is to ending \u2014 highlighting that Russia, China, the United States and other countries have become \u201cincreasingly aggressive, adversarial and nationalistic.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The group also cited threats including climate change<\/a>, risks of nuclear war<\/a>, potential misuse of biotechnology and the increasing use of artificial intelligence<\/a> without adequate controls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
