But it just got a little harder to find a deal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Loblaw&nbsp;Companies Ltd.&nbsp;has changed their policy on expiring items, <strong>decreasing their discounts on perishable foods, such as meat, fruit and vegetables, from <\/strong>30-50<strong> per cent to a maximum 30 per cent per item.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The grocery chain did not publicly announce the price change in Loblaw-owned stores. Instead, it was discovered by Dalhousie University\u2019s Agri-Food Analytics Lab, to whom&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" ET<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Revenue<\/strong> was&nbsp;$18,265 million, an <strong>increase<\/strong> of&nbsp;$877 million, or 5.0%.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Retail segment <strong>sales<\/strong> were&nbsp;$17,982 million, an <strong>increase<\/strong> of&nbsp;$852 million, or 5.0%.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Food<strong> Retail<\/strong> (Loblaw) same-stores <strong>sales increased b<\/strong>y 4.5%.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Drug Retail<\/strong> (Shoppers Drug Mart) same-store <strong>sales increased<\/strong> by 4.6%, with front store same-store sales growth of 1.8% and pharmacy same-store sales growth of 7.4%.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>E-commerce sales increased<\/strong> by 13.6%.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Operating income<\/strong> was&nbsp;$1,065 million, an<strong> increase <\/strong>of&nbsp;$74 million, or 7.5%.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Adjusted EBITDA<\/strong><sup>(2)<\/sup>&nbsp;was&nbsp;$1,926 million, an <strong>increase<\/strong> of&nbsp;$80 million, or 4.3%.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Retail segment adjusted gross profit percentage<sup>(2)<\/sup>&nbsp;was 30.6%, a decrease of 20 basis
