And in the process, these storms funnel their smoke like a chimney into Earth&#8217;s stratosphere, with lingering adverse effects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/allanhardingmackay.ca\/courtpainter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/pyro-scapegoating-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24433\" style=\"width:1000px\" width=\"1000\" srcset=\"https:\/\/allanhardingmackay.ca\/courtpainter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/pyro-scapegoating-1.jpg 900w, https:\/\/allanhardingmackay.ca\/courtpainter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/pyro-scapegoating-1-300x270.jpg 300w, https:\/\/allanhardingmackay.ca\/courtpainter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/pyro-scapegoating-1-768x691.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 1362px) 62vw, 840px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Pyro-scapegoating<\/strong> : According to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.antihate.ca\/parental_rights_policies_across_canada_critics_warn_impact_at_risk_trans_youth\">research by the Canadian Anti-Hate Network<\/a>, parental rights mobilizations have coincided with the rise in anti-2SLGBTQIA+ policies and platforms of major political parties in Canada, most recently the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theglobeandmail.com\/opinion\/article-pierre-poilievre-must-reject-the-transphobic-policies-his-party-has\/\">Conservative Party of Canada<\/a>&nbsp;and provincial Conservatives&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/canada\/manitoba\/manitoba-pcs-promise-expanded-parental-rights-in-schools-if-re-elected-1.6939489\">in Manitoba<\/a>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestar.com\/news\/gta\/doug-ford-takes-aim-at-ontario-school-boards-over-indoctrinating-students-on-gender-identity\/article_48470d40-c925-5f1d-a757-24f9062d1b78.html\">and Ontario<\/a>  and New Brunswick under premier Blaine Myron Higgs. In Saskatchewan, Premier Scott Moe plans to introduce&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/canada\/saskatchewan\/new-education-policies-sex-education-pronoun-use-1.6943641\">anti-trans legislation this fall<\/a>. The notion of \u201cprotecting children\u201d has become a big tent that attracts a wide range of right-wing extremists, religious conservatives and conspiracy theorists. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Adding misinformation, bigotry, and resentment to the mix, you have what can be referred to as &#8220;pyro-scapegoating&#8221; \u2013 an explosive social phenomenon fueled by the heat of homophobic, resentful, and bigoted sentiments.
