1362px) 62vw, 840px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A new report, released by <strong>West Coast Environmental Law<\/strong>, says the government is misleading Canadians about the extent of the debt that the federally owned Trans Mountain Corporation is accumulating as construction continues on its controversial pipeline expansion project, and calculates that the <strong>government will need to write off at least $17-billion in debt <\/strong>that is owed to Canadian taxpayers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since the federal government bought the pipeline from Kinder Morgan Canada for $4.5-billion in 2018, the estimated cost for the expansion project <strong>has gone from $7.4-billion to $12.6-billion to, most recently, $21.4-billion. <\/strong>The costs come as the pipeline expansion project adds a second \u201ctwinned\u201d pipeline to the existing pipeline, which runs from Edmonton to Burnaby, B.C.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/harding16263914\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>New report
