At its very best, it\u2019s a revolution.&#8221; \u2014<strong>Salman Rushdie, &#8220;On Censorship&#8221;&nbsp;<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Famed author Salman Rushdie, who has endured death threats from extremists for decades,&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wgrz.com\/article\/news\/crime\/author-salman-rushdie-attacked-on-stage-at-the-chautauqua-institution\/71-c7e70ec5-3db1-4a14-9807-fdc2f63e0b92\" target=\"_blank\">was stabbed Friday&nbsp;<\/a>before a scheduled lecture in western New York, according to state police.<\/p><p>A man stormed the stage at the Chautauqua Institution, about 70 miles south of Buffalo, at about 11 a.m. Friday August 12\/22 and attacked the 75-year-old Rushdie and an interviewer.<\/p><p>Mr. Rushdie was taken by helicopter to a local hospital, the state police said in a statement. His condition is not yet known.
