That\u2019s despite centuries of genocide, racism, and what Hernandez and other academics and activists refer to as settler colonialism \u2014 the intentional displacement and erasure of Indigenous peoples by outsiders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"Dh1Ftb\">\u201cConservation continues to teach scientists that scientific knowledge is more valuable than Indigenous knowledge,\u201d Hernandez writes.
