The Council of the CHA claims that \u201cth<\/em>e <em>existing historical scholarship\u201d makes it \u201cabundantly clear\u201d that Canada\u2019s treatment of Indigenous peoples was genocidal and that there was \u201cbroad <\/em>scholarly consensus\u201d<em> as to the evidence of \u201cgenocidal intent.\u201d The CHA Council also attacks the profession in stating that historians have turned a blind eye to<\/em> <em>the tragedies that have marked Canadian history.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>BEG TO DIFFER:     Comments &amp; Definitions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now many of us are not historians &amp; scholars however with general and in some cases specific &amp; experiential knowledge of the purposeful and  institutionally backed church &amp; state efforts to contain and remove indigenous reality  from the face of the Great Dominion&#8230;one could argue by definition if it walks like cultural genocide, talks like cultural genocide, &amp;  acts like cultural genocide &#8230;it must be cultural genocide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The international legal definition of the crime of genocide is found in Articles II and III of the 1948 Convention on the Prevention and
