People\u2019s Party of Canada<\/a> Leader Maxime Bernier<\/a> has doubled down after attempting to discredit an internationally recognized teenage climate change activist\u00a0by calling her \u201cmentally unstable.\u201d<\/p>\n

After facing scorn on Twitter for his remarks on Greta Thunberg<\/a> on Sunday, Bernier did not back down in an eight-part tweetstorm the following day.<\/p>\n

He called Thunberg \u201cthe international mascot for climate alarmism\u201d and claimed she is being used as \u201ca convenient shield\u201d by the left.<\/p>\n

\u201cGreta Thunberg is clearly mentally unstable,\u201d he tweeted. \u201cNot only autistic, but obsessive-compulsive, eating disorder, depression and lethargy, and she lives in a constant state of fear.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy concern is not for Greta Thunberg\u2019s feelings, but for the millions of Canadians and people in other countries who will be poorer, will suffer and have their lives upended if we let her and the movement she represents impose their radical ideas,\u201d he later added.<\/p>\n
