Cooper<\/b>\u00a0 Conservative MP\u00a0\u00a0represents the riding\u00a0of St Albert-Edmonton\u00a0. Cooper serving as vice-chair of the Standing Committee on Justice &amp; Human Rights\u00a0was removed by party leader Andrew Scheer\u00a0after Cooper confronted witness\u00a0Alberta Muslim Public Affairs Council president Faisal Khan Suri in a manner that was considered offensive by reading\u00a0into the record a passage from\u00a0the Christchurch Shooter&#8217;s Manifesto \u2014 which has been banned in New Zealand.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-10303 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/allanhardingmackay.ca\/courtpainter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Court-Painter-umbrage-.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"750\" srcset=\"https:\/\/allanhardingmackay.ca\/courtpainter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Court-Painter-umbrage-.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/allanhardingmackay.ca\/courtpainter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Court-Painter-umbrage--300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/allanhardingmackay.ca\/courtpainter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Court-Painter-umbrage--768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 1362px) 62vw, 840px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The committee suspended its hearing before returning to the witnesses, after which Cooper offered a tepid apology. \u00a0He said he would withdraw his comment, saying the witness should be ashamed, \u201cbut certainly not the rest of what I said.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>What got Cooper&#8217;s baby blue conservative knickers in a knot was the witness drawing\u00a0a link (among others) between &#8220;conservative commentators&#8221; and the online history of mosque shooter Alexandre Bissonnette at which Cooper expressed &#8216;great umbrage&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-10305 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/allanhardingmackay.ca\/courtpainter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/m-cooper-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"571\" srcset=\"https:\/\/allanhardingmackay.ca\/courtpainter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/m-cooper-2.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/allanhardingmackay.ca\/courtpainter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/m-cooper-2-300x171.jpg 300w, https:\/\/allanhardingmackay.ca\/courtpainter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/m-cooper-2-768x439.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 1362px) 62vw, 840px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The head of the Alberta Muslim anti-racism advocacy group questioned what Cooper was doing with the manifesto. <em>\u201cThat manifesto should not be in the hands of any Canadian whatsoever.
